Olympus Upgrades EVolt Cameras

Olympus has recently upgraded 2 of their cameras from their EVolt DSLR series, the EVolt E-410 and EVolt E-510. These cameras have a few enhanced capabilities as compared to their predecessors – The E-400 and E-500.

The earlier models were 8 megapixels each and the megapixelidge has been increased to 10MP at up to 1600 ISO on the four thirds lens mount. They also come with CF and XD card support. Olympus has also claimed that the sensor technology in both cameras has been upgraded as well and its TruePic III Turbo ASIC increases shadow detail on the fly.

The cameras also come equipped with Olympus' Supersonic Wave Filter to remove dust from its surface as well as to stop movement of dust through the camera body.

The E-510 is also equipped with a mechanical image stabilizer and is however, a bit larger than the E-410 due to the larger grip and a higher capacity battery. Both cameras however, allow users live-view capabilities through the 2.5-inch LCD view-screen while shooting. This is in addition to the optical viewfinder through the lens.

Olympus has also introduced a few new kit lenses which are said to be compact in size.

The E-510 will be available in the US by June and will be priced at approximately Rs. 35,200 ($799), whereas the E-410 will be out in May, priced at approximately Rs. 30,800 ($699).
