The Google-owned, super popular YouTube said that it will begin supporting video pieces shot in 1080p, next week.

The current "high-quality" option available on YouTube videos is 720p, and is accessible by clicking the HD icon where available. They will be highlighting some of the best new 1080p footage on the front page soon. Of course, in our country where tunnel sized bandwidth is not everywhere, the uploading times will have to be factored in.

"As resolution of consumer cameras increases, we want to make sure YouTube is the best home on the web to showcase your content," YouTube software engineer Billy Biggs said in a blog post.
