Dailytech has reported, that Samsung Electronics has introduced its new M80 SATA Series and M80 Series 2.5-inch hard disk drives. Both series utilize Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) technology, which offer increased storage capacity. Both the M80 SATA and M80 Series come in 80 GB, 120 GB and 160 GB sizes. The M80 SATA and M80 Series feature an 8 MB cache and a 5,400-rpm spindle speed, comes equipped with the Hybrid Latch System, a means of reducing the clicking noise generated when a drive is in use.

The Samsung’s 2.5-inch drives offer users increased damage risk protection by incorporating free-fall sensors, which can detect when a drive is about to fall and will park the drive's movable parts off into a parked mode therefore protecting it from damage.
