Gone are the days of 1 GB and 2 GB USB drives—now everyone from Transcend to Sony is coming up with standard 8 GB USB flash drives. Sony's latest is its high-capacity, 8GB Micro Vault Midi USB flash drive that comes with the standard retractable USB connector and the Virtual Expander software that compresses data on-the-fly up to 3 times, so you may effectively store data upto 24GB, depending on how compressible the data is. The price isn't confirmed yet, but we do know that the drive will be available somewhere after November '06.
