Sony Preps 8 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

PSP users rejoice — now you will be able download and store many more games on your handheld console using the new 8 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo card! 

Capable of storing up to four full-length UMD games, 12 PlayStation One CD games or up to 19 hours of PSP-compliant MPEG-4 video, the 8 GB stick will add a whole new level of portability to the PSP. The stick can also be used in digital cameras, storing upto 3000 photos in 10 megapixel resolution, or compliant phones to store almost 2000 MP3s at 128kbps.

The Memory Stick PRO duo will also come with a free file rescue software that will allow quick recovery of deleted files.

Pricing information of the stick, model number MSX-M8GS, is not available yet, but it will have a 5 year warranty and is expected to be released next month, i.e. February 2007.

The 8 GB Memory Stick was announced exactly one year ago at last year's CES event.
