The rumours have been flying thick and fast recently, but Square Enix put them all to rest at their Production 1 press conference and officially announced Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to last year’s JRPG. Yay, more Lightning! Whether you loved, hated or didn’t play Final Fantasy XIII, you can’t deny the fact that the game was an opinion maker across gamers. Final Fantasy’s first foray into the current-gen was a divisive effort, with many people criticising it and placing it in their 2010 Disappointments list, whilst others thought it was a pretty good game and thought it was unfairly hated upon. So it’s no surprise that the announcement of a sequel has had a similarly mixed reaction. Whether FFXIII-2 rights the wrongs of and improves on FFXIII (especially that random ending) is something we’ll have to wait to find out, but for what it’s worth the game will release later this year in Japan for the PS3 and XBOX360. That’s right, none of that timed exclusive nonsense. Now where's that Versus and Noctis? |
