Ubisoft Purchases Gameloft's Indian Studio

French developer/publisher Ubisoft who as you all know are behind the Splinter Cell series, the Rainbow Six series etc have recently announced that they plan on taking over Gameloft’s Pune based mobile phone game development studio in a bid to enter the Indian mobile game development market. Here’s what Gameloft’s country manager Ravi Kumar had to say about this acquisition, "We’ll now have a global resource pool to work with. Our Hyderabad and Pune studios have been doing extremely well and we’ve clocked revenues of about Rs 2.5 crore in FY2007-2008. Internationally, we’ve been growing at about 40%, much ahead of our competitors." |
