Crystal Dynamics, the American video game developer behind the well known Tomb Raider franchise is all set to unveil a new IP (Intellectual Property) this year. At a time when studios are mindlessly cashing in on sequels, hearing about a new IP, especially from a big studio like this is music to my ears. Of course the whole matter is shrouded in secrecy but according to community manager Meagan Marie, details will be available later on in the year.

At the same time, the studio’s working hard on their Tomb Raider reboot that seems like a radical departure from the franchise with a focus on survival. Serving as a prequel to Lara’s previous adventures, Tomb Raider will see everyone’s favorite adventurer marooned on a treacherous island hunted by a brutal and unrelenting foe. The game doesn’t have a concrete release date yet but it seems it will be available sometime this year for the Xbox360, PS3 and PC.
