Doom 3 BFG Edition announced

| by Avinash Bali | Gaming

id software is probably working on Doom 4 and to test the waters before they release it, they’ve come up with something called the Doom 3 BFG edition. This includes a remastered version of Doom 3 as well as Doom 1 and 2 for the Xbox360, PS3 and PC. In addition to sprucing up the visuals (it is a seven year old game after all), the Doom 3 update will also include the Doom 3 expansion, Resurrection of evil, additional checkpoints and most importantly, the ability to wield your flashlight and weapon at the same time. Doom 1 and 2 will unfortunately ship as is. I personally feel that’s a bit of a missed opportunity there as id could have roped in some of the newer gamers who never experienced both games on the PC.

Gamers who pick this bundle up will also get a bonus set of missions called the Lost Mission. If you’re the 3D loving kind, the PS3 version of this game will ship with 3D support. No release date or price has been announced so far, but the trailer seems to suggest it will release in 2012 itself.
