Guardians Of Middle-Earth announced

| by Avinash Bali | Gaming

Warner Bros. today announced Guardians Of Middle-Earth, a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) based game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. DOTA (Defense of the Ancients) is the best example of a MOBA game, one that has enjoyed critical and commercial success, so it isn’t surprising to see Warner go after that genre.

The game will be developed by Monolith Studios (F.E.A.R.) and will allow ten players to slug it out in teams of five as some of the pivotal characters from the LOTR universe. The game will also feature certain tie-ins to Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey that will hit theatres this December. Guardians Of Middle-Earth will be available sometime this year for the Xbox360 (through Xbox Live) and PS3 (through the PlayStation Network). I do find it extremely weird that this game will not be releasing on the PC, considering the MOBA genre was pioneered and perfected on that platform.
