Mortal Kombat Banned in Australia

| by Avinash Bali | Gaming

Not that this really surprises me but according to website Delimiter, the latest iteration of Mortal Kombat has been banned in Australia. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that the game will feature head, face and all sort of orifice ripping. But wait, isn’t the game 'M' rated? That’s right. It is but for some reason Australia's Classification Board feels its adult population cannot handle the violence in video games.

Warner Bros. the game’s publisher is obviously very upset at this decision and here’s what they had to say, "We understand that not all content is for every audience, but there is an audience for mature gaming content and it would make more sense to have the R18+ classification in Australia. As a member of the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association, WBIE is reviewing all options available at this time."

Looks like its imports all the way for gamers down under.
