We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
With the recent dearth of full-blown AAA games, we figured it'd be a great idea to take advantage of the free time and play some indie games. One of the games that immediately caught our attention was Monaco: What's Yours is Mine.
With the release date for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance right around the corner, Konami has released a new trailer for the game. This time around, the trailer gives us a look at the skill system.
The trailer first shows a bunch of awesome stuff you can do. As is usual for games like this, you get skills by killing things. The trailer shows us some of the moves that Raiden can learn, such as Thunderstrike, Lightning Strike, Falling Lightning, Sky High, Sweeping Kick, and Stormbringer. There are even skills that let you attack more than one enemy without paying attention to the others.
The Cyborg Ninja costume is based on the original Cyborg Ninja from Metal Gear Solid. The Cyborg Ninja, named Gray Fox, was an old ally of Solid Snake, who critically injured Fox in a fight during the Outer Haven incident. This led to Fox undergoing extensive surgery to become the Cyborg Ninja. He is in Metal Gear Solid as a boss fight and later helps Snake battle Metal Gear REX.
This costume was probably included as Raiden is one of the least popular characters in the Metal Gear canon. Raiden became the new cyborg ninja between the events of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4.
The other costumes players can buy after the game’s release includes the Metal Gear Solid 4 version of Raiden. The MGS 4 version is different from the Revengeance version as the MGS 4 Raiden still had both of his eyes, along with lighter-looking armour as opposed to Revengeance Raiden’s eyepatch and heavy-looking armour.
Raiden's got some moves
Platinum Games released a new gameplay video for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance last December, which showed gameplay focused more on the stealth side of things. The video focuses on a sewer level where you are encouraged to get by without alerting too many enemies.
Judging from the video, it looks like the Cardboard Box is making a comeback as well. The video also gives us a glimpse of the customisation options, one of which includes the ability to wear a poncho and a sombrero.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is set in the near future, where cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system, which had been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain power.
Furthermore, large ‘Private Military Companies’, or PMCs, which had been supported and controlled by the Patriots, have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organisations. These renegade PMCs employ cyborg technology and have become increasingly disruptive, shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC ‘Maverick Security’, Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past and carving through anything that stands in his way.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is set to hit stores this month. In the mean time, check out our preview.
