New Study Shows Average Gamer is 37 Years Old

The next time that annoying aunt or uncle says something like “Why do you play these video games, they’re for kids”, tell them to talk to the hand and point them to a study by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA),  which says the average age of the gamer is 37 years. This is obviously not the Indian gamer they’re talking about as gaming is still in a socially awkward phase here. These are our American counterparts, who according to this study are between the ages 18 – 49.

While these figures do sound positive for us gamers, I’m kind of scared as I’m dead sure most of these figures come from the Kinect, Wii and Move loving crowd. This obviously means the industry will start concentrating more on “family friendly” gaming than before because this is where the money is. And we all know how crappy that turned out for us at E3 2011.
