Sony will include a new feature for the Playstation 3 in an upcoming firmware update where gamers will now have the ability to save their games on the cloud. According to Kotaku, this will happen during the v3.60 update. PS3 unpwned Saving to the cloud basically means using a cloud computing service to save your games. So instead of saving the files to your hard-drives, they will be uploaded to a remote server. Since it'll be tied down to an account and not a console, users will now be able to use their saves on any console anywhere. So no more lugging a pen drive around the next time you want to display your uber-cool saved games to a friend. Just log on to your account and voila! However, it'll only be available for Playstation Plus subscribers and developers may opt out of this service and bar their games from using it. About time, I say. Valve have implemented this system in Steam for a while now and even Blizzard uses their cloud computing system for saved games. |
