Volition’s crazy open-world game, Saints Row: The Third, is going to get a Game of the Year edition. The game of the year edition, titled Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package, will have the game, along with all the downloadable content (DLC) that Volition has released for the game in the form of new missions and weapons, according to IGN.
The DLC packs in the Full Package are Genki Bowl VII, Gangstas In Space and The Trouble With Clones. Along with this, The Full Package contains thirty bonus items from the Shark Attack Pack, Witches & Wieners Pack, Special Operations Pack and the Genki Girl Vehicle Pack.
“The fans have asked for it, and with the Full Package, we are happy to deliver,” said THQ vice president of global brand management Kevin Kraff. “With all the amazing and over-the-top DLC Volition created, the Full Package now stands as the definitive edition of Saints Row: The Third. For anyone that has yet to play this one-of-a-kind game, it’s time to strap it on.”
The Full Package is arguably the best name for a game of the year edition
The events of Saints Row: The Third take place shortly after the end of Saints Row 2, where the Third Street Saints have taken over the city and have become cultural icons all over the world. Saints Row: The Third chronicles the Boss taking over the new city of Steelport and getting revenge on the other gangs for killing Johnny Gat.
Saints Row 2 took place a few years after the first Saints Row, at the end of which the Boss was caught in an explosion and was hospitalised. This gave the perfect excuse to show off the new character creation tools in the game. Saints Row 2 shows how the Boss reassembles the Third Street Saints and takes over the city.
Another DLC pack was announced for Saints Row: The Third – titled Rise of the Dominatrix – earlier this year, but Volition later announced that the DLC will instead be a part of Saints Row 4.
"When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise,” said Jason Rubin, THQ’s President. “I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game. When it comes to Saints Row, it’s clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over the top, and that’s why Enter The Dominatrix will now be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full-fledged sequel, scheduled for calendar 2013.”
Added Rubin, “We believe the potential for this sequel is far greater as a full-priced, full-length, high quality, connected experience.”
Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package will be making its way to stores in November 2012.
