The Darkness II Launch Delayed Till 2012

2K Games have announced today that The Darkness II, a sequel to the ‘The Darkness' has been delayed by 5 months. It was earlier slated for an October launch. 2K games are now planning to release it on February 7, 2012 in North America and February 10, 2012, internationally.

The Darkness was a unique first person shooter game from the makers of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. As a member of the Italian mob, Jackie Estacado inherited supernatural powers on his 21st birthday in the form of two demon arms growing out from his back and a bunch of evil minions, who like all well behaved minions, carried out his every bidding.

Owing to the success of the original, 2K games had planned a release this year, however, it seems that they have pushed back the date due to releases of much better known games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3 and so forth. Waiting until 2012 might just give the game some much needed exposure and avoid falling prey to gigantic titles competing against each other. The game will be made available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
