A smart shelf that allows communal display of information and serves as a charger for the wireless gateway watch was also showcased, along with a coffee table that turns into a large display for collaboration. The table also doubles up as a charger base for thin client devices. Phil Devlin, Manager, Product Marketing, Mobile Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, Hewlett-Packard Asia-Pacific and Japan said, "HP's vision of the future of mobility is a world where simple devices inter-operate to deliver a cohesive, always connected lifestyle. Anyone can make the simple complicated—true creativity lies in making the complicated simple." Devlin also stressed on upcoming technologies such as Ultra Wireless Bluetooth, which is still in the drafting stage but slated to be 5000 times faster than the existing bluetooth capability at a speed of 500 MB per second. He said this technology will debut towards the end of 2008 and will be instrumental in driving the future of technology. He also said that while some of the products unveiled at the event may not see the light of day, the technology behind these gadgets will come of age in the next eight to nine years. |
