Apple releases WWDC 2012 app, keynote on June 11 at 10 am PDT

Late last month, Apple announced the dates for their World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), but one of the pieces missing at the time was when the highly anticipated keynote would take place. As per a report by The Mac Observer, Apple has now revealed the time to be 10am PDT on Monday the 11th of June, 2012.

Mountain Lion and iOS the main topics of discussion

Along with the schedule for the event, Apple has also released an app that details all the information necessary for the event. Speaking about the app, the website states, “The WWDC 2012 app, which is useful only for registered attendees, lets users check out the conference schedule, see where events and sessions will be held, tracks the sessions you are attending, and includes an option for providing session and lab feedback. The app is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.”

Apple states that at this year’s five day conference, developers will learn about the future of iOS and OS X, allowing them to build incredible new apps. WWDC will also feature more than 100 technical sessions, presented by Apple engineers as well as the popular Apple Design Awards, a showcase of the most outstanding apps from the past year. When Apple announced the dates for the WWDC event that will be held next month, Philip Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, said, “We have a great WWDC planned this year and can’t wait to share the latest news about iOS and OS X Mountain Lion with developers. The iOS platform has created an entirely new industry with fantastic opportunities for developers across the country and around the world.”

In the past, Apple keynotes were the place that hardware products, like the iPhone were announced. However, this year, it appears that it will be mainly software-centric with them showcasing the Mountain Lion OS for Macs and also previewing what their next big operating software for their iDevices, which is iOS 6 will look like.

The WWDC event will take place from the 11th to the 15th of June in San Francisco at the Moscone West convention center.
