British Telecom (BT) sues Google over latter’s Android and other services. British telecom states that Google products, like Android Market, Google Maps, Google Search, Google+ and Google Offers violate its company’s patents. The lawsuit was filed last week in the U.S. District Court in Delaware.

These Google services supposedly infringe several patents, including cover systems for navigation information, and service provision among others. Reportedly, a Google spokesperson rejected these claims by British Telecom and said, “We believe these claims are without merit, and we will defend vigorously against them.”

The court papers show that British Telecom had earlier approached Google to license them, but didn’t receive a positive response. Earlier Apple, Microsoft, Oracle and eBay had a tiff with Google over patents. Throughout the year, we’ve been reading about Apple and Samsung caught in the legal limbo over patents. Earlier Google’s Eric Schmidt had disclosed that the company will support its Android manufacturers in the form of information sharing, industry expertise and access to Google’s patents for legal requirements.
