HTC is suing Apple and it's seeking to halt US imports of Apple computers, iPods, iPhones and iPads claiming patent infringement. Taiwan-based HTC filed a suit with U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court in Delaware claiming infringements of patents relating to how devices connect to wi-fi. HTC says they obtained these patents in 2008 and 2010 and they're seeking compensatory damages as well as triple damages for wilful infringement. HTC slams a suit back at Apple
This escaltes the tension between Apple and HTC. Apple has already filed suits in the last two years in the same court in Delaware against HTC claiming patent infringements through their smartphones. HTC said in July that it would be open to negotiations to settle the suits Apple filed against it, however, this latest lawsuit almost seems like a retaliation against Apple. |
