India Ranks 17th in List of Unique IP Addresses Globally

IP addresses are unique numbers given to network devices attached to the internet or any other network, for that matter. The world has a set number of IP addresses and IPs are allotted by regions and countries. The internet is running out of IP addresses and the move to IPv6 seems inevitable. According to a report by Akamai, India is ranked number 17 in a list of IP addresses. Akamai is one of the largest content hosting services on the web. The ranking for India in the sheet gives an idea of where India stands in terms of internet usage. Quickly rising...
Akamai’s service is used across some 74 countries. India accounts for about 69,74,771 unique addresses, in all. The largest number of unique IP addresses are from the US. Sanjay Singh, MD, Akamai Technologies, India said they had the ability to monitor and gauge the growth of developing countries with developed ones. The amount of unique IP addresses growth in India was roughly 21 percent. He also said that the introduction of 3G services in India should help boost these numbers some more. |
