Introduction of Technology a Must in School Education: Ashok Ganguly
|
Focusing over rapidly increasing technology’s role in school education, a top educationalist in the country today advocated a new curriculum and teaching methodologies to make students competent on global platform. “Students will not be able to face global challenges in future if stereotype education delivery pattern is not changed on time. Technology is playing a vital role in school education in developed countries and this is the fact we can not escape from,” former CBSE chairman Ashok Ganguly, said at a seminar titled ‘Education in the 21st century’ here. “E—learning books, online mentoring etc are in practice world over and we will have to adopt these practices to make our students competent on global platform,” he said. Ganguly said a transformation is required in mindset of people who are managing school education in the country. Later, Mr. Ganguly told reporters, “Teachers should embrace technology to effect transformational change in schools and students to meet the demands of 21st century.” On introduction of grading system in school education, he said is it is a positive change and would benefit students in the long run. “We have been following marking evaluation for years, but in a way this pattern makes misclassification of students. It creates unhealthy competition and students focus only on scoring marks and not on extra curricular activities,” he said. |
