Another device that seems to have gotten a makeover at MacWorld 2008 is the Apple TV media playback box. First of all, it's no longer tied to the Mac or the PC, and operates independently. Secondly, it's received a new UI and support in the form of new features – such as the ability to rent movies and purchase music and TV shows directly via the device itself. Its price has also dropped to $229 for the 40GB edition and $339 for the 160GB edition. This is a marked fall of $70 for both iterations of the Apple TV. In terms of content upgrade, the device is designed to interface with Apple's new iTunes movie rentals feature. If you were wondering what’s in store for existing Apple TV users, the company will be introducing downloadable software that will allow you to upgrade your existing device to support the new features. This is a great move as it will preserve and let the existing user base enjoy the new benefits at no additional cost. For further details check out this link. |
