Qualcomm retracts Apple A7 64-bit 'marketing gimmick' comment
| by Anujeet Majumdar |
Qualcomm has now retracted an earlier statement where a company executive said that Apple’s A7 64-bit chip in the new iPhone 5s was a “marketing gimmick”. In an interview last week, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer Anand Chandrasekhar had said that the new A7 chip will give iPhone 5s users “zero benefit” beyond more memory accessibility. While talking about Qualcomm’s efforts in the same sphere, the executive had said that the company was also working on its own 64-bit chip, but that it will be more useful for engineering, chip design and operating system purposes.
