Random Hacks of Kindness To Begin This June

25 May, 2011, 10:23 am IST | by Anuradha Shetty | General

With hacking on the rise these days, almost every known brand out there is doing its best to try and effectively counter it, if not nip it in the bud.

What began as an initiative begun by the representatives of Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Hewlett-Packard, NASA and the World Bank, about two years ago; will now see yet another edition this year. Come June 2011, on the 4th and 5th, these representatives will conjoin and begin the RHoK program. Random Hacks of Kindness or RHoK will be held at five different U.S. locations and 13 international sites.

The RHoK program, as the name suggests intends to use technology for the benefit of humanity. Some of RHoK’s works include the recent Person Finder that was launched in the wake of Japan’s catastrophic earthquake. Also, I’mOK – an online messaging service was used on Ground zero in Haiti and Chile, as a disaster response unit.
