Razer joined in on the protest against SOPA bandwagon with Google, Reddit and Wikipedia and launched a campaign on their website, aptly titled, "F*** SOPA". Razer said that the bills themselves could destroy the Internet, as we know it and are not the correct way to handle piracy. They said "Congress has opted for the 'nuke from orbit' approach, hurting both the community from whom they benefit and developers they seek to protect. We cannot allow this to happen." Razer has a view on SOPA
Razer also cleared up that they absolutely do not condone piracy. They said, "We feel it damages the industry and we will stand against anything that hurts either the gaming community or the developers." They clarify that the bills, SOPA and PIPA are the wrong way to combat piracy and that other gaming companies, Red 5, Riot Games and Mojang are in agreement with Razer on the matter.
Razer joined the list of websites that shut down on the 18th of January by placing the above image as a placeholder for the website. In true gaming form, they boldly say "F*** SOPA" outright without shyness or pretence. |
