Samsung Strikes Back; Apple To Face 10 Patent Slams

Just last week, we reported about the beginning of the muscle-tussle between two popular technology brands – Apple and Samsung. For those of you who managed to not gather details of it, here are a short recap.

Apple, the maker of the coveted iPad, iPhone recently discovered resemblance to its stylish smartphone in contemporary Samsung’s Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab. The pictures released thereafter did show some resemblance, but only this time the stakes were high. This surface rivalry could cost Apple a deep hole in its pocket. It is not unknown to many that Samsung manufactures the microchips that are used in some of Apple’s products. Also, Apple’s MacBook Pro computer line uses memory chips manufactured by Samsung.

Samsung that was blamed to have seeked the easy way out of innovation has now added a twist to the already curvy tale. In an answer to Apple’s allegation, Samsung has slapped as much as 10 copyright infringements against Apple. The 10 infringements, i.e. five patent infringements in South Korea, two in Japan, and three in Germany is sure to have left Apple planning its next move.

Samsung's official website now bears this post - "On April 21, Samsung Electronics filed a lawsuit in the Seoul Central District Court, Korea against Apple Inc. citing five patent infringements. Separately, Samsung filed a suit in a court in Tokyo, Japan citing two patent infringements, and in Manheim, Germany citing three patent infringements. Samsung is responding actively to the legal action taken against us in order to protect our intellectual property and to ensure our continued innovation and growth in the mobile communications business."
