Shrinking Bee Population Caused by Cell Phone Radiation

16 May, 2011, 5:30 pm IST | by Anuradha Shetty | General

As we make our lifestyles more and more dependent on technology, we fail to realize the damage that we cause to the environment that breathes around us. For most of us, the Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) might seem to be a term that wouldn’t make much sense

Honey, I shrunk the bees!

The CCD concept deals with something similar. The ever-increasing usage and dependence on technology has been increasingly adding to the confusion to the lives of the bees. So much so, that the increased levels of radiation have been affecting their navigation routes, and they end up losing their way to their hives. According to research paper presented by a Swiss researcher, Daniel Favre, it is known that radiation disorients the bees. The importance of bees, spell their role in the process of pollination which in turn affects the availability of food. Bee keepers all over the world have been pointing out to the dipping bee population.

With cell phones in the close vicinity of hives, especially places like parks, the fears of the bees not coming back to their hives, becomes blaring.
