In what could prove to be a major force on the side of all the Internet firms fighting against the SOPA and PIPA bills, Wall Street Journal reports that the White House has shown its support for them. The report states that the move will undoubtedly strengthen the side of the Internet companies, who're protesting against the SOPA, PIPA bills with the media companies on the other side. The media companies in the U.S. who are the supporters of this bill have been reportedly facing huge losses owing to growing instances of piracy, which has been plaguing their work.

Justifying its decision to side with the Internet companies, the White House said that the bills "could hurt innocent companies and undermine cybersecurity".The report quoted three White House advisors as saying, "While we believe that online piracy by foreign websites is a serious problem that requires a serious legislative response, we will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet".
