AMD Radeon HD 7770 pictures surface

A forum member at Rage3D has been considerate enough to snap a couple of pictures of AMD's next-generation mainstream graphics card. The new card is based on the Cape Verde core, which is the direct replacement to Juniper. The last generation HD 6770 was still based on the old HD 5770 core, so this is the first true next-gen mainstream card from the red team.

The design of the heatsink is similar to the HD 7970, which we saw up close a few days back. To keep costs down, the HD 7770 will not be getting the vapour chamber heatsink, but instead it will be using a standard aluminium heatsink with a centrally positioned fan. The length of the card would be similar to a GTX 460 or an HD 5770. The card will also have DVI, HDMI and a miniDisplayPort.

To power the card, one just needs a single 6-pin connector, which puts the power draw somewhere at 100W. CrossFire is also supported, but for just a two-card configuration. The four memory chips on the exposed PCB indicate a possible 128-bit memory interface and possibly GDDR5 memory. AMD seemed to have got their line-up all taped out, it’s only a matter of officially announcing it.
