Asus launches HD 6770 DirectCU silent edition GPU

Like your gaming rig to be quiet? Then, how about Asus’s new silent edition HD 6770. The mainstream card uses their proprietary DirecCU heatpipe technology, but this time, they’ve ditched the fan and gone completely passive. The card is available for an MRP of Rs.9,750, excluding taxes and a 3-year warranty.

The new cooler is said to be up to 16 percent more efficient than standard passive cooling, which can be attributed to the DirectCU technology. In this, the copper heatpipes come in contact with the GPU core directly thus increasing the heat transfer and in turn lowering the temperatures a lot quicker. Asus also uses, what they call, a ‘Super Alloy’ for various components like the heatsink to make it more durable. The core is clocked at a speed of 850MHz, while the memory runs at 4000MHz (effective). It also features 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Connectivity wise, you’re pretty much sorted as you have DVI, HDMI and VGA.

In my opinion, the pricing is a bit much, since one can easily get a GTX 460 or a HD 6850 for the same amount and those are way faster. Hopefully, the street price is lower, so you can even consider it as an option.
