In what marks a return to form for Asus, they have released a new model of the 8800GT chipset that comes with 1 GB of VRAM. Called the EN8800GT/HTDP/1G this new model features Qimonda RAM, an Asus innovation to allow users to enjoy high resolutions and maximum quality settings for all kinds of games. It also features SmartDoctor, a powerful piece of software that allows users to overclock the shader clock for appreciable performance boost and a custom Glaciator Fansink design that keeps the GPU temperature 7 degrees cooler as compared to graphics cards based on reference designs.

"The ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/1G is the first EN8800GT model in the world to leverage the Qimonda DRAM that comes equipped with 8pcs of 1GB GDDR3 graphics memory," said C.P. Wu, General Manager of ASUS Graphics and Multimedia Business. Robert Feurle, Vice President of Business Unit Graphics at Qimonda added, "We are glad that Qimonda could offer ASUS this ultimate memory solution, which enables us to offer this leading product for the graphic card market".

The 1GB EN8800GT card is scheduled for retail later this month or early January 2008.
