Asus has unveiled a very interesting product for laptop users — the XG Station. The XG station is an external graphics card slot, which will allow laptop users to plug-in in a PCIe graphics card and enjoy high-end graphics while it is plugged in. Image Source: Dailytech The XG station achieves this feat by connecting itself to a laptop's Expresscard slot. Since it features a PCi Express x16 slot, it can be equipped with any PCI Express graphics card from manufacturers like AMD, Nvidia and Matrox. Asus in fact has launched the default XG station with Nvidia's 7900GS powered graphics card. The XG Station is powered externally. An integrated LCD display and control are also present. These components are customizable and can display information such as frame rate, fan speed, GPU temperature. The release the XG Station is scheduled for Q2’07 this year with pricing unknown at this moment. |
