SimpleTech Unveils Elegant HDD Range

10 Apr, 2007, 3:59 pm IST | Jayesh Mansukhani | Storage

The term sexy can be applied to a lot of things… except computer peripherals like HDDs. However all that is set to change now, with the unveiling of SimpleTech‘s SimpleDrive desktop line. These new drives will be external units, whose exterior casings have been designed by Pininfarina, the same firm that have been designed for Ferrari in the past.

These new drives will be available in an array of capacities and colors. Each color will designate a different capacity ranging from Fire Red (160 GB), Pearl white (250 GB), Sapphire (320 GB), Onyx (500 GB) and charcoal gray (750 GB, 1 TB). The drives for connectivity will offer either USB 2.0 or FireWire 400 connectors.

Among the other unique things that Simpletech is launching as part of this new lineup, is the world’s first external 1 Terabyte external solution. For this Simpletech will be utilizing Hitachi's five-platter, 3.5-inch Deskstar 7K1000. This unit will be available in May for around USD$ 400.
