Apple to launch iTV by Q3 2012, states report

28 Dec, 2011, 9:55 am IST | by Aaron Almeida | HDTVs

There have been many rumours of a Siri-enabled Apple HDTV in the works, but there was no actual time frame as to when the brand would actually release the product. Previous reports have stated that Apple would release a HDTV, by the end of 2012 or by early 2013. However, according to a report by Digitimes, these rumours have gained steam as industry sources have informed them that Apple is set to start preparing components for an Apple HDTV that is scheduled to be launched by the second or third quarter of 2012.

This is much sooner than expected and the television could be announced at their annual WWDC event, which takes part during the middle of the year. There were no names known for this HDTV and the sources have dubbed them as an iTV. The sources go on to state that Samsung have started producing chips for these iTVs, while Sharp is set to produce the displays. Initially, Apple will launch the television in two sizes - 32-inch and 37-inch models. Previous rumours have indicated that Apple will launch a full size television, which will be based their Siri voice recognition software, thus removing the need for remote controls.

Let us know your reactions on Apple launching an iTV and how expensive do you think it would be.
