Laser TVs to Challenge Plasmas and LCDs

11 Oct, 2006, 2:15 pm IST | by Aalaap Ghag | HDTVs

Plasmas and LCDs might have to make space for a third technology that claims to be half the price, half as thick and half as light as current generation flat panel TVs! If that isn't good enough, the new Laser TV technology will make the TVs use up only 25% electricity of conventional flat TVs, further saving the costs.

This new laser technology also claims to be able to produce better color reproduction for a more realistic and life-like picture. The laser TVs are expected to be available from Samsung and Mitsubishi in 2007. It's a good thing I didn't buy that 32" LCD TV in that exchange offer two days back—now I'll wait for laser TVs!
