LG sheds light on the 55-inch OLED TV to be unveiled at CES 2012

Last week, LG previewed the 55-inch OLED TV that is set to be unveiled at CES 2012. We already know that being the world’s largest OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) TV panel, it is one of its kind. Details on this monstrous television were slim at the time of preview, so LG have decided to release some more details. This 55-inch television will be announced at CES and it will incorporate LG’s 4-color pixels and Color Refiner features with their display’s advanced OLED panels. The brand claims, “this television generates the most natural colors of any TV set at a much lower price point than could have been achieved using the standard manufacturing process.”

The announcement from LG goes on to state that this OLED TV is different from LCD televisions because it uses the 4-Color Pixels feature allowing for more accurate color depiction by using a set of four colours (red, green blue and white), in comparison to the RGB setup used by other OLED TV manufacturers. They go on to claim that the Color Refiner feature ensures consistency in colours from a wider viewing angle via an LG algorithm which improves and refines hues and tones.

Apart from this, the 55-inch OLED TV features a slim and narrow bezel measuring at just 4.4mm. The weight is apparently quite light as well with it weighing 7.5kgs. LG claims that this television ‘practically blends into the wall.’

LG is certainly leading the race with previews for CES with the brand already raising the curtains on an 84-inch 3D ultra definition TV and a range of 3D monitors.
