Siemens Announces New Bluetooth Device

19 Mar, 2007, 11:30 am IST | by Shayne Rana | Headphones

Siemens has launched their latest Bluetooth device—The Gigaset ZX1 Class 1 Bluetooth Communicator with DSP 2 technology. This device can simultaneously connect to any compatible Bluetooth-enabled cordless or mobile phone while streaming music from a separate music source up to a 100 meters. Seimens also claims it combines voice noise reduction and speech enhancement to help cut out external noise and interference and can be worn around the neck.

The ZX1 is equipped with an additional standard headphone socket that allows for the use of wired headphones or a PC gaming headset. Users can also purchase the Gigaset ZX1 in a package with the Gigaset ZX2 which is also Class 1 Bluetooth adapter that enables any PC, TV or home stereo system (with headphone jack) to use Bluetooth audio connectivity.

With automatic alerts to incoming calls, the Gigaset ZX1 enables users to switch between music and calls at the touch of a button. For this to work the user would need the Gigaset ZX2 to be connected to a music source (or TV) and the Gigaset ZX1, paired with a Bluetooth enabled cordless phone or mobile device.

"Being the first to introduce the world's first long range Bluetooth communication device is a significant market achievement", said Nicholas Ord, Vice President Innovation, Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices. "We've boosted the sensitivity and power of the Gigaset ZX1's Class 1 Bluetooth technology to deliver a range of up to 100 meters and have combined it with state-of-the-art DSP technology."

The Gigaset ZX1 will be available in April 2007 in Europe and will cost Rs. 8162 (139 Euros) and a package including the Gigaset ZX1 and Gigaset ZX2 will cost Rs. 9356 (159 Euros).
