Kingston has announced the launch of its new SSDNow KC100, which is the company's first SATA Rev. 3.0 (6GB/s) business-equipped SSD. It utilizes SandForce's DuraClass technology for data integrity protection. The SSDNow KC100 also offers enterprise-level S.M.A.R.T attributes as the SSD's usage statistics, health and life stage can be monitored with industry standards and publicly available S.M.A.R.T monitoring tools.

As far as the features are concerned, Kingston’s new SSD self-encrypts to provide full and immediate client-level data encryption. It has two embedded encryption engines; running in both AES-128 and AES-256 modes and encryption is performed at the drive level without draining host system resources and slowing down data transfer rates. SSDNow KC100 is also backward compatible with current SATA2 systems, future-proofing them for the next client system upgrade. According to Kingston, the entire data integrity protection runs transparently in the background, so it doesn’t disrupt daily business.

The SSDNow KC100 ships in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities, as a standalone or with an upgrade bundle kit. It comes with a five-year warranty and more information can be obtained here. Endurance, reliability and performance are key assets that may eventually decide the fate of business-oriented SSDs and if Kingston’s new device does offer what it promises, then it could potentially be an important asset at your workplace.
