Google's Miro Logo Irks Artist's Family

Google usually brings smiles to a lot of web surfers on holidays when they change their logo to celebrate an event or pay homage to someone in particular, but this time, when they put up their Google logo Joan Miro-style, the family of the the Spanish surrealist painter and sculptor and the Artists Rights Society that represents them have not taken to it very well. They felt it violated copyrights of the works of Miro and asked Google to remove their Miro'd logo. Google promptly did so, but maintained that they didn't think they were violating copyright. Google wasn't ripping off Miro's design and passing it as their or anything, they were just paying tribute to the artist. I don't see the problem with that, but I'm not a Miro, so I guess I wouldn't know.
