Reuters Building a 'Financial' Social Network?

05 Mar, 2007, 7:01 pm IST | by Priyanka Pradhan | Windows

Reuters is reportedly planning to build a social networking website, aimed at financial workers.

The news organization hopes to attract a large percentage of the traders, fund managers and other financial staff who already use the Reuters messaging service, into the virtual world. Chief executive Tom Glacer told vnument.com, that the site would not be aimed at teenagers like the popular MySpace, but would allow users to share research and trading models.

The report reveals that membership of the site, which is expected to launch later this year, will be open only to Reuters news service subscribers. Reuters has already experimented with social networking by posting a news bureau in the Second Life online community.
