Skype's IPTV Coming Soon

VoIP provider, Skype has tied up with the founders of file sharing network, Kazaa, to launch advertising-supported Internet television in the next few months. The project, code-named Venice, aims to offer for free, quality TV programs to consumers with a broadband Internet connection. Skype co-founder Janus Friis told a Danish newspaper that they are working towards presenting the project to the public, within the next two months. He added that they are currently negotiating with content providers and TV production companies around the world, for the venture. According to Friis, the success of the IPTV service depends on the timing of its launch. He said he hopes the founders will be able to replicate the success Kazaa and Skype. Read more here. |
