Yahoo! India is Now Multilingual

The Yahoo! India portal has been localized with the introduction of seven new languages now allowing users to access content-related features in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi and Gujarati. "Innovation is the key driver for our product development, in order to make Yahoo relevant to the next 200 million Indians that will come online in the next few years. This will add value and excitement for our users and advertisers." said George Zacharias, Managing Director, Yahoo! India. Users can visit the main www.yahoo.co.in website and use the regional language buttons on the top navigation bar of the site to access this site in their favourite Indian language. They can also access their site using the following link and by replacing the language that they wish to view the site in. in.hindi.yahoo.com, in.kannada.yahoo.com etc. Yahoo! India has also announced an update to Yahoo! Messenger Indichat module which can now facilitate chatting in 9 regional languages. The Yahoo! Indichat plug-in enables users to chat in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati without any need for a language keyboard. The user can just load the Side Panel plug-in here and start chatting in any of these languages. |
