Yahoo! oneSearch Beta, Yahoo!'s mobile search service, is now available to Indian users and can be accessed through Yahoo!’s mobile Web site, on any mobile phone with a browser and Internet access. David Ko, vice president and general manager, Connected Life Asia said, "Consumers want search on their mobile phone to be entirely different from search on the PC. Yahoo! oneSearch is designed specifically for the mobile phone. It understands what busy consumers are looking for when they are on the move and brings up relevant answers in the first screen. Yahoo! oneSearch delivers better results with just one search, instead of a sea of Web links to PC sites." Indian users will now be able to access News, Finance, Weather, Image, photo sharing site Flickr, Web and mobile Web results. They can click on an ad to go to the advertisers’ mobile Web site or a landing page to get additional information about the advertisers’ offerings and can also call the advertiser. Yahoo! will add new types of content to the service over the coming months. Yahoo! oneSearch will go live in beta in seven countries, including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The service is now live in 14 countries around the world including the US, Italy, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. Yahoo! oneSearch first launched on the company’s Mobile Web service US in March 2007. To try Yahoo! oneSearch, users are required to open their mobile phone’s browser and type in in.m.yahoo.com.
