Yahoo! to Launch 'Big Thinker series' in India

Yahoo! Research has announced the launch of its 'Big Thinker Series' in India, from Jan 8, 2007. The Big Thinker Series includes lectures and interactive sessions with acclaimed experts from Yahoo and is aimed at academia, scientists, corporate world and the media.

Yahoo! has scheduled the string of quarterly lectures on science, technology and the Internet, to enable Indians to share expertise and global perspective of technology, online products, communities and the internet space in general.

While Data mining expert, Raghu Ramakrishnan, will kick start the series, speaking on Community systems: the world online, Andrew Tomkins, will make his presentation on 'Web search and online communities', R Preston McAfee, an authority on industrial organisation, will speak about 'pricing' and Ricardo Baeza-Yates, a web retrieval and mining expert, will speak on 'web mining or the wisdom of the crowds'.

Managing Director of Yahoo India, George Zacharias, said the media company is developing a lot of innovations around the mobile platform and on major Indian languages.
