Amazon's Cloud-Based Music Service Now iOS Compatible

09 May, 2011, 10:10 am IST | by Anuradha Shetty | iOS

Amazon’s ‘only Android compatible’ cloud player music service is now compatible with Apple’s iOS courtesy an under the carpet update that happened in the weekend that passed by.

In the cloud..

In the cloud..

Users with an existing Amazon cloud drive account can now stream music on their Apple devices, too. However, unlike Android owners who had the native app for the cloud player, iOS users can listen to their songs online on the built-in browser on iOS, Safari. The process seems fairly simple. Users will have to access the Amazon cloud player site using their Apple devices. A warning screen would then pop-up saying that the browser isn’t supported. After potentially ignoring that message, users can then see their list of tracks stored on the cloud player’s servers.

Then just like they would function otherwise, users can start streaming music, and also listen to their music while it remains in the background. The tracks would pause themselves in times of an incoming call or any notification. This update however lacks Flash support, due to which songs cannot be uploaded, as also tracks can’t be re-arranged or dragged and dropped onto the playlist.
