Ubuntu falls behind Fedora, Mint, openSUSE

According to the latest ranking list put forth by DistroWatch, popular OS, Ubuntu has lost out on its top position to Fedora, Mint, and openSUSE. The results, which feature DistroWatch's findings for over a year show that Mint now holds the top spot. Now, if a report in Pingdom is to be believed, then Ubuntu's sudden fall could be attributed to the change in the default interface of version 11.04, also known as “Natty Narwhal”. This version was released in April, this year. Mint, on the other hand has shown fine results in the DistroWatch findings. The report card over the months
The report further adds that Ubuntu's market share had been constantly dipping, while that of Mint was doing spectacularly well. In figures, the report states that if one would look at the most recent statistics, with respect to the change levels in the last 30 days, with the average number for 2010, then Ubuntu fell by 47.2 percent, while Mint rose by 105 percent. |
