Apple To Release Updated iMacs and Mac Minis

Apple plans to introduce updated versions of its iMac and Mac Mini range, with some significant hardware upgrades which will include and use a version of NVIDIA's GeForce 9400M chipset. These facts have emerged over at AppleInsider, which found references to these models in the recently released 10.5.6 update.� The specific references related to the mention of an unreleased "iMac 9.1" and "Macmini 3.1" updates and were mentioned as being specifically tied to MCP79, which is Nvidia codename for its GeForce 9400M combo chipset.

This just confirms what Nvidia officials have been hinting at throughout the year, i.e. Apple is looking to expand its relationship with the GPU maker, beyond just using its products in its premier notebook line i.e. Macbook Pro. This move is also significant, as Apple is the fastest growing PC manufacturer and has seen a meteoric rise in the uptake of its products.� Given Nvidia’s track record of delivering good onboard solutions and Apple OSX being a formidable media OS, this merger may result in a significantly improved Mac Mini which has been asking for an upgrade for a while now.
