BlackBerry’s CES booth didn’t seem to have too much in terms of handset as most of the handsets have already been announced and that’s that. What they did feature though was their new Bluetooth accessory called the BlackBerry Presenter. It’s a small light weight (140g) device that’s capable of only supporting PowerPoint presentations. So if you were hoping to watch your videos on a larger display, think again. It’s designed to connect with all Blackberry handsets via Bluetooth (v2.0 + EDR) and needs to be hooked up to a projector. “Mobile professionals are always looking to carry less when travelling,” said Glenn Laxdal, Vice President, Product Management, Research In Motion. “BlackBerry Presenter equips mobile professionals with a simple, secure and convenient way to deliver presentations directly from their BlackBerry smartphone, giving them the freedom to leave their laptops behind.” BlackBerry Presenter gives users control of their presentations, allowing them to navigate their presentations, view speaker notes, loop presentation slides and even reference information on one slide while displaying another. It supports roaming up to 30 feet between the devices. It’s priced at a whopping Rs. 9100 ($199.99 USD) which is a bit absurd for a small Bluetooth device that is only capable of showing PowerPoint files. |
