India's third-generation (3G) spectrum auction will be completed in "one or two" days, telecoms minister Andimuthu Raja told parliament on Thursday.

Bids for one set of nationwide 3G mobile spectrum licences reached 89.14 billion rupees ($2 billion), or over 2 times the base price, on the sixteenth day of the auction, government data showed on Wednesday.

Nine mobile operators, including Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and Vodafone's Indian unit, are participating in the auction, which started on April 9.
